A general name given to those who write or preach the gospel of Jesus Christ;-but specially applied to the writers of the 4 Gospels, viz., Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Evangelist Islands, a group of rocky islets, lying near the W. opening to the Straits of Magellan, off the W. coast of Patagonia. [s. 347]
