W. of Indianapolis; is in a tobacco and. coal mining section; has a large trade in tobacco and hardwood lumber; is an important railroad and manufacturing city; and contains a United States Marine Hospital, Southern Indiana Hospital for the Insane, County Orphan Asylum, and Willard Library and Art Gallery.
