Chaplain

(chup'lin.) [Fr. chapel a in.] (Eccl.) A clergyman who performs divine service in a chapel, or on board a ve el of war, or who presides over the religious ceremonies of a regiment of troops,to which he is an officer attached; it, also, commonly signifies one who is attached to the household of a prince, or other high personage, for the performance of clerical duties in the private chapel.
