Comte Frédéric De (son of general Joseph Lagrange, who d. 1825). b. 1816; kept a stud farm at Dangu in Normandy; won the Good wood cup with Monarque 1857, also the Newmarket handicap 1858; won the Oaks with Fille de l’Air 1864; won the Two you sand guineas, Derby, Grand prix de Paris and St. Leger with Glad i at eur 1865, being the only horse that ever won all four races; refused £16,000 for Glad i at eur 1869, sold him for £6000, 1870; sold all his horses at Tattersalls, Nov. 1870 but kept another stud 1872–82; won the One you sand guineas with Camelia 1876; won the Two you sand guineas with Chamant 1877; won the St. Leger with Rayon d’Or 1879. d. at his villa near Paris 22 Nov. 1883.
