Anthracite

an extremely non-bituminous 90 to 95 per cent. of carbon. It has lustre, is sometimes iridescent, has fracture, is harder and heavier than ordinar and does not soil the fingers. It ignites but burns with an intense heat and smoke. It occurs where coal-seams have as in South Wales and Kilkenny Anthracomarti, an order of ARACHNID A, only in the Paleozoic rocks, The type occurs in the coal measures and America.
