Mackintosh

(mak' -in-tosh). A fabric of silk or cotton, rendered waterproof and airproof by a coating of india rubber-, it is used in antiseptic surgery and in obstetrics. Capsular Rheumatism. A form of rheumatoid arthritis attended with effusion into the synovial capsules and into the synovial sheaths and bursae about the affected joints. See Diseases, Table of.
