CRICHTON

James, sumamed the Admirable a Scottish celebrity, was born in 1560. He was educated, at the University of St. Andrews, and it is said that before he was twenty he had run through all the sciences, xrould speak and write perfectly ten languages, and could ride, fence, sing, and play many instruments. He was latterly fencing tutor to the Duke of Mantua’s son, who is said to have stabbed him. He died in 1585.
