Crichton-Brown, Sir

JAMES, M.D., LL.D., F.R.S., a noted physician, was born in Edinburg in 1840; educated at Trinity College and University of Edinburgh; also attended the medical schools of London and Paris. The West Riding Asylum, of which he was appointed the head, has become celebrated under his wise direction. He is a member of many learned societies, and vice-president and treasurer of the Royal Institution of Great Britain. He has written a number of papers on physiology and pathology of the nervous system.
