(flo’ba-fén) (Gr. φλοιός bark + Bagh dye]. One of a series of compounds resembling resins and differing from the latter only in that they di olve in dilute ammonia water. They are derived from tannin by boiling with acids and are characterized by their brown color. phlogistic (flo-jis’tik). Inflammatory.
