Sculpture, as distinguished from the graphic arts. IMG:content-1185.png:[blocks in formation] Metaph.: A medium imagined, to account for the communication between the body and the soul, and partaking of the qualities of both. The hypothesis cannot be maintained. There can be no existence at once extended and unextended; or if, like man, this medium be supposed to be a union of body and soul, it is itself in want of a medium, and therefore valuele for the purpose for which it was imagined. plastic-operations, s. pl. Surg.: Operations which have for their object to restore lost parts, as when the skin of the cheeks is used to make a new nose. Sometimes called Plastic surgery. plastic-surgery, 8. [PLASTIC-OPERATIONS.] plăstic-al-ly, adv . [Eng. plastical ; -ly.] In a plastic manner. ( De Quincey.) 3145
