Plastic Art

(The,) (plastik-.) [FromGr. pla o, to form, to mould.] (Fine Arts.) The imitative arts are two - the Graphic and the Plastic. While the former (DESIGN) produces, by means of light and shade and color, the appearance of bodies on a surface, the latter (SCULPTURE) places bodily before us the organic forms themselves in their highest perfection, achieving its triumph in that of man.
