SYLLOGISM

proce by which from two propositions (premises) containing a common term as the bond of connec- ~ tion, we pa to a third proposition (conclusion), the truth of which follows from the truth of the premises. Every Syllogism must contain a universal proposition, whence the reasoning is from the more to the le general; this is deduction as distinguished from induction, where we reach a more general proposition.
