[Etym. doubtful; prob. onomatopoetic, from the note of the birds.] Ornith.: A popular name applied to many birds in Jamaica. [Lat.=who as well.] Law : A popular action on a penal statute, partly at the suit of the queen, and partly at that of an informer; so called from the words: " qui tam pro domina regina, quam pro se ipso," .=who (sues) as well (for our lady, the queen, as for himself).
