CONNIVENT

(Lat. conniveo, / wink.) A term used figuratively by botanists in describing the direction of or gans, to denote a gradual inward direction, as in many pe tals. It is the same as converging. In Anatomy, the term is applied to those valvular folds of the lining membrane of canals which are so disposed as to retard, while at the same time they permit, and, as it were, connive at, the pa age of the contents of such canals as the " valvulae conniventcs" in the human intestine.
