Talus

, a youth, son of the sister of Dædal us, who invented the saw, compa es, and other mechanical instruments. His uncle became jealous of his growing fame, and murdered him privately; or, according to others, he threw him down from the citadel of Athens. Talus was changed into a partridge by the gods.
