STIFF

In Architecture, plaister used in common ceilings and walls for the reception of paper or colour. It is composed of lime, slaked and sifted through a fine sieve, then mixed with a due quantity of hair and fine sand. A mixture of lime and hair, used in the first coat and floating of plastering, is called cocirsrstuff. rTNGER [s. 469]
