Stiff

A ve el is said to „ Stiff”, if she requires a considerable pre ure of wind or applied force to heel her over. If a ve el is too crank (see the term..Crank") she is liable to capsize, and if too stiff, she is bound to roll heavily in a rough sea, which may cause her to leak, to break her masts, etc.
