(as’-kar-is) [aampig, a species of intestinal worm: pi., Ascarides~\. A genus j of parasitic worms inhabiting the intestines of most animals. A. lumbricis is found in the ox, hog, and man. It inhabits the small in-! testine, especially of children. A. mystax, the roundworm of the cat, and A. alata have rarely been found in man. A. vermicular is, a synonym of Oxyuris vermicular is. 93
