AURORA

Borealis, or ‘ Northern Lights,’ are also found in the Southern polar regions. The centre of the meteoric arch corresponds probably with the Magnetic North. It is constantly moving, but may remain visible for several hours. When the rays are very bright, they are generally also of very varied colours—green, rose, violet, etc. It seems to be an electric discharge connected with some magnetic disturbance, currents of positive electricity illuminating the atmosphere on their way to the earth.
