(au-rō'rah.) [L.; Gr. Eos.] (Myt.) The godde of the morning, was the wife ofAstræus, and the mother of the winds. She is represented in various ways; often she appears in a flowing veil, which she is in the act of throwing back, opening with her roseate fingers the gates of morning. Auro'ra, a city of Illinois, in Kane co., on Fox River, 40 m. W. by S. of Chicago. rop. 11,162. -A town of Indiana, in Dear born co., on the Ohio, 25 m. W. of Cincinnati. Pop. 3,304. [s. 61]
