(0s’’te-o-ar-throp’ath-e) (Gr. ὀστέον bone + arthropathy]. Any disease of the joints and bones. hypertrophic pneumic o., hypertrophic pulmonary o. 1. Acromegaly. 2. A disease characterized by enlargement of the terminal phalanges of the fingers and toes, thickening of the articular ends of bones, enlargement of the lower jaw, and peculiar curving of the nails. It is believed to be due to disease of the lungs in which toxic matters are absorbed from diseased areas. Called also osteo-arthropathie hyper trophi ante pneumique. pulmonary 0.
