COCCYX

The huckle-bone, knucklebone, or whistle-bone; the distal bone of the vertebral column, formed by the coalescence of four rudimentary vertebrae. It is triangular, with its base articulated to the sacrum, to which it generally becomes ankylosed late in life, and with its free extremity curved toward the pubic arch. [A, 43.] 2.
