Pace

pas, n. A step; esp., the space included between the two feet in walking, usually estimated at 2.5, sometimes at 3.3 feet; manner of walking; gait; gree of celerity in walking; a mode of stepping among horses, in which the legs on the same_side are lifted together; amble. — v. i. [paced (pasd), pacing.] To go, walk; to go at a pace, walk slowly; to move by lifting the legs on the same side together, as a horse; to amble. — v. t.
