The latter affords a fixed oil (olive oil, sweet oil), which consists chiefly of olein and palmitin, and is employed as a food, as a mild laxative, and as an application to wounds, bruises, etc. 2. Any olive-shaped body. inferior 0., the inferior olivary body. superior o., the superior olivary body.
