A document granted generally by the Authorities of Customs, containing the name of the ve el and her Owners; the length, breadth, depth, cubical capacity etc. of the ve el; which is to be kept on board and produced to the Consul of the Nationality of the ve el at every foreign Port she enters, and to the Custom Officials of Home Ports. The term is also in common practice applied to the Net-tonnage ” of a ve el; if question arises as to a ve el’s Register, it means her Net-, or Register-tonnage.
