(al'lan-to is.) [Gr. all as, a sausage, and eidos, form.] (Anat.) A sort of elongated bladder, between the chorion and amnion of the fœtus. It serves as a temporary respiratory organ. It is very apparent in quadrupeds, but not in the human species. [s. 21]
