(al-an’to-is) (Gr. ἀλλᾶς sausage + eléos form]. A sac which in early fetal life springs out from the hind-gut of the embryo. It afterward arches around so as to envelop the embryo completely, and fuses with the subzonal membrane to form the chorion and placenta.
