— TOPH (1785-1860). Ger. author and; app. prof. at Kiel, 1812, and stirred up patriotic feeling in SchleswigDenmark; obtained Ge. Doct, ——— of W. Africa, belonging to France; situated on coast and stretching inland: bounded by Ger. To go land on W.: Lagos and Yoruba on E.; and by Guif of Guimea on S.; capital, Porto Wovo; area, c. 60,000 sq. miles. Coast (grtending c. 80 maar consists largely islands and swamps, separated by Wild American artist. *Born as Harpers Ferry, Va. Studied art in New York and Paris. He the Lady Chapel of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, New York, 1892, and gave public lectures on art. ‘Director Permanent Child (Property of Haley Fiske), Child of Mary, Stery of the Madonna, 1902. Slumbering Fog, Metropolitan Museum. Awarded Silver medal, Buffalo Exposition and Clark Prize, National Academy of Design, 1992. Author of mono graphs on George Inne and R. A. Bilakelock.
