Thucydides

the great Greek historian, was bom near Athens in 471 B.C. He was a prominent commander in the Peloponnesian War, but was exiled for alleged remi ne in duty. As a historian he was indefatigable in collecting facts, severe in sifting them, and very terse in recording them and in the power of analyzing character and actions; he has probably never been surpa ed.
