—A liquid with a characteristic smell, obtained as a by-product in the distillation of wood aleohol. Acetone is used in the manufacture of chloroform, iodoform, ete. It di olves many times its own volume of acetylene gas, the quantity depending upon the pre ure, and is therefore used in connection Aah, reservoirs for storing acetylene for automobile wghts. {
