Hospital

(hos'-pit-al). A building for the care and treatment of sick or infirm people. H. Fever, a feverish condition formerly common in hospitals, due to ill-ventilation and unsanitary conditions. Also, the fever symptomatic of gangrene. Also, a synonym of Typhus Fez'er. See Fever . H. Gangrene, a contagious, phagedenic gangrene occasionally attacking wounds or open sores. It is confined mainly to military hospitals, and is of microbic origin.
