Chrysoberyl

(kris'o-běr-ril.) [Gr. chrysos, gold, and beryl los, a beryl.] (Min.) A yellowish gem, generally found in small round pieces, or crystallized in eight sided prisms. It is used in jewelry, and is next to the sapphire in hardne . Its chief constituents are alumina and glucina. It is found in Brazil and in several parts of the United States. [s. 186]
