Chrysoberyl

BeAl2O4. Yellowish green, frequently transparent mineral, nearly as hard as corundum, and esteemed as a gem. An emerald-green variety found in the Ural Mts. is known as Alexandrite, a glucinum aluminate. It is found in the U. S., but not often in handsome specimens.
