Conduction

—1. The flow of an electric current through a conducting body, such as a metallic wire. 2. The transfer of heat from the hotter to the colder parts of a body. Hence, conduction depends upon the fact of inequality in temperature existing in the several portions of a body. The transfer of heat through solids; as, through boiler plates, is due to conduction. (
