SPIKENARD

The spikenard of the ancients appears to have been the Nardostachys salatnansi, the root of which is highly esteemed at the present day throughout the East as a perfume, and as a stimulant medicine. The plant is a native of the mountainous parts of the north of India. SPINAL CHORD or [s. 1422]
