Hamamelis

(ham-am-e/ -lis). Witch hazel leaves of gen., H. virginica, with properties not fully known. It is thought to be tonic, styptic, and sedative, and appears to affect the circulation in a manner similar to aconite. It is highly recommended as a hemostatic.
