Truss

An arch formed piece of iron, the end of the arms being attached to the tru -hoops of a lower-yard, and the back of it connected by a swivel-bolt to the tru -hoop fitted round the mast; this arrangement keeping the yard at a desired distance from the mast, also permitting it to be swayed by the braces in any required direction.
