{gos-ipf -e-tim) [L. ]. The Cotton-tree, Go ypium herbaceum, and other species of Go ypium, of the order Malvaceae. G. purificatum, cotton-wool, the hairs of the seed of Go ypium herbaceum, and of other species of Go ypium, used as a dre ing and as a substitute for sponges in surgery; in pharmacy, as a filtering medium. See Cotton. Go ypii radicis cortex; this is used as an emmenagogue, especially in the form of G. radicis, Ext., Fid. Dose fsj -f^j (2.0-4.0). G. seminis, Oleum, cottonseed oil.
