Of a wooden ve el comprises the bulwark-stanchions, bulwark-planking, and a rail; forming together a kind of palisade round an upper-deck, a poop-deck, a raised-quarter-deck, etc.; varying from two to six feet in height, according to the size of the ve el and the purpose for which they are intended.
