(yer.) [A.S. ] (Chron.) The period occupied by the earth in completing one circuit of her orbit. As regulated by the sun, it is called solar, and as regulated by the moon, lunar. The solar year is the interval of time in which the sun finishes his apparent course through the zodiac, and contains 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 49.6 seconds.
