[A,86.]—Nuclear b. The nuclear disc (g. v.) of a maturing ovum after it has a umed an ellipsoidal form. [J, 1.]—Nucleoplasmic b. The definite ma formed in a maturing ovum by a collection of the plasma of the nucleus (germinal vesicle) after the membrane of the vesicle has disappeared. [J, 1, 30.]— Olivary b. Lat., corpus olivare, oliva, Fr., corps olivaire. Ger., Olivenkôrper, Olive. Sı olive. An oval projection at the upper ‘ion of the me oblong at a, just above the extremity of the lateral column. It is separated from the lower edge of the pone Varolii by a well-marked groove. It is surrounded by bunles of nerve-fibres (the capsule, siliqua olive). Its centre is occupied by a ma of ‚y matter surrounded by convoluted lam inæ of white substance (the corpus dentatum olive) which are not continuous, but leave an opening on the mesial side (the hilum) through which bundles of nerve-fibres pa into the centre (the olivai peduncle). Ger., Pacchioni’sche Kô;?er (oder Granulationen), Arachnoidalzotten, It., glandote di Pacchioni. The small granulations, or granular ‘owths, seen on the surface of the dura mater along the longituinal sinus and extending into the sinus itself. They do not originate in the dura mater, but have been shown by Luschka to be simply hypertrophied arachnoidal villi which have grown through the dura. They may be injected through the subarachnoid space, and have been supposed to aid in equalizing the pre ure in the venous sinuses and the subarachnoid cavity in case of a sudden increase in the amount of the cerebro-spinal fiuid. H, Savage's term for a highly elastic and resistant structure formed by a sort of fusion (without lo of identity) of those perineal structures which, in women, meet at a point midway between the anus and the posterior commi ure of the vulva; forming a point of attachment for the ischio-perineal ligaments, the superficial transverse perineal muscles, and the anterior part of the superficial sphincter ani, [A, 203.|—Pineal b. [Owen]. e Anterior PyrAMID.—Problematical bodies. 1. A term used by Semper to designate what Sabatier considers to be nuclei of den to sperm oblasts (g. v.) which have not undergone division. 2. Ma es of acce ory corpuscles. [Geddes (J, 55).]—Psalloid b. See Lyra. —Pyramidal b. A prominence on the infero-posterior surface of the plantar cushion of the horse, corresponding to the frog. [L, 13.] —Refractive bodies. Minuté cylindrical crystals, of unknown composition, scattered through the protoplasm of some of the lower Protozoa. [L, 121.]—Restiform b. Lat., corpus rest i for me. Fr., corps rest i for me. Ger., strickférmiger Kärper. Syn.: inferior peduncle of the cerebellum. A rounded ma of nerve-fibres at the posterior part of the medulla oblong at a, which results from thi union of the lateral cerebellar tract with the cuneate funiculu: and the funiculus of Rolando, and terminates in the cerebellar hemisphere. The term is sometimes applied to the posterior column of the medulla oblong at a (exclusive of the funiculus gracilis) together with the lateral cerebellar tract, also to the posterior column alone. A group of nerve cells near the central region of the s Varolii, just below the facial nucleus, near the outer edge of the formatio reticular is, It gives origin to some of the fibres of the trapezium.
