(kleev'land,) in N. Carolina, a S.W. co., on the S. Carolina frontier; area, 660 sq. m.; C. Shelby. Pop. 12,696. In Ohio, a fine city and port of entry, C. of Cuyahoga co., situated at the outlet of Cuyahoga river, on Lake Erie, 135 m. E. N.E. of Columbus, and 195 S. W. of Buffalo. This is the second city of the State in point of size, wealth, and com- + mercial importance; is finely Fig. 188. laid out with its streets at right angles, and shaded by trees, SWEET -PEPPER BUSH. and is replete with handsome and commodious public and private buildings. In a commercial sense, C. is preeminently the entrepôt of an extensive trade with Canada and the Lake Superior region.
