[ker’-mez) [Pers., qirmiz, crimson]. A red dye-stuff resembling cochineal, made from the bodies of the dried insects, Coccus ilicis, found on the Kermes oak. K. Mineral, a mixture of the teroxid and tersulphid of antimony. 348
