Colchicum autumn ale. Plant of the Lily family, native of s. Europe, cultivated for its medicinal proper Colchicum autumn ale. ties; known also as Meadow Saffron. Used chiefly to relieve the pains of gout and rheumatism, but poisonous in large doses. Colchis. Region of Asia, e. of the Euxine and s. of the Caucasus, to which the Argonauts sailed.
