Colchicum

[liol’ ’ -chik-uni) [/coA^/cdv, colchicum]. Meadow-saffron. The corm and seed of C. autumn ale, the properties of which are due to an alkaloid, colchicin. It is an emetic, diuretic, diaphoretic, and drastic cathartic. It is valuable in acute gout, and in some forms of rheumatism.
