(kris' -in), A hydrocarbon derived from coal-tar. It is generally colored yellow, but can be rendered perfectly colorle . It is sparingly soluble in alcohol or ether; melts at 2500 C.; boils at 4360; crystallizes and sublimes in silvery leaflets, that exhibit an intense violet fluorescence.
