miliaria

(mil-e-a’re-ah) (L. mil'ium millet]. An acute inflammation of the sweat-glands, characterized by the formation of patches of small red papules and vesicles, with intense itching and burning of the skin. The disease is due to exce ive sweating, and occurs in hot weather. Called also m.ru’bra and prickly-heat. ™. al’ba, m. crystalli’na, miliaria in which the contents of the vesicles are opaque and white. Called also sudamina crystal lin a. mm. rubra. See miliaria.
