(in-ok-u-la' -shun). The introduction into the circulation of the virus of infectious diseases, or of certain medicinal agents. I., Jennerian, vaccination, or the inoculation of cowpox-virus. I. of Smallpox, inoculation with the contagium of smallpox to produce a mild type of the disease. I., Preventive, inoculation with some virus to act as a preventive of a more serious disease or type of the same disease.
