Various species of Rumex; genus of the Polygo naceæ, of wide geographical distribution. The common weedy species of e. America, introduced from Eu rope, are unsightly and troublesome weeds in gra and grain crops and about buildings. They are biennials, and may be kept in check by cutting and destroying the plant before the seeds have ripened.
