A genus of evergreen trees, with conical pallid flowers and a bullet like succulent austere fruit, rough externally, and containing numerous minute seeds. Several species, all hardy, are known in gardens; the most common of which is Arbutus une do, the most beautiful A. andrachne. [s. 84]
